Air source heat pumps are an alternative way to heat your home and produce hot water use the heat that is in the air around you and boost it to a higher temperature using a heat pump.
The latent heat in the air is used to boil refrigerant within the heat pump which in turn creates useful heat energy for your home
Air source heat pumps work in a similar way to a refrigerator. The system takes heat from the air outside and feeds that into your heating system.
Because the heat produced is cooler than a conventional system, it works well with large radiators or underfloor heating, giving heat out at a lower temperature but over longer periods.
The heat from the air is absorbed into a fluid that moves through a compressor, increasing the temperature and this is transferred to your heating system and hot water.
